Typical averages from standard kitchen reference charts; your ingredients can differ by around 10 percent, especially flour and brown sugar. Tablespoon values are one sixteenth of a cup.
How to measure without a scale
- Stir flour in its bag to loosen it.
- Spoon it into the cup until it overflows; do not shake or tap the cup.
- Level it with the back of a knife.
- Pack brown sugar firmly; it should hold the cup shape when turned out.
- For sticky ingredients like honey, oil the cup first so everything slides out.
